A thermal analysis method for aluminum electrolytic capacitors considering the effect of insulation resistance is proposed in this digest, and its thermal stress model with the introduction of both series resistance and insulation resistance is given. In addition, the prototype experimental cases quantify its influence on different DC voltage levels and ambient temperature.
